Marking 160 years of Romanian diplomacy, the Romanian National Day celebration was held in the 1 December at Pretoria Country Club.
Her Excellency Mrs Monica-Cecilia Sitaru welcomed guests , in her address she noted that South Africa is one of the most important commercial partners in Sub Sahara Africa. It was also said how Romania has worked with the people of South Africa through friendship and empathy over the last couple of years.
The bilateral relations between Romania and South Africa date as far back as 1991 but strengthened from 2008 when Romania opened an office in South Africa.
Guests enjoyed a piano recital that was performed by Ms. Laura Pauna, a Romanian / South African pianist.
In closing Her Excellency reiterated the words of Nelson Mandela
“A winner is a dreamer who never gives up.”
