The diplomatic community enjoyed a relaxing evening with an outstanding performance by the Turkish Trio at the University of Pretoria.
Cihat Askin, who is an international representative of Turkish Violin School, and one of the leading artists of Turkey today lead the trio. Cihat Aşkın gave his first recital in school at the age of 12 years. Askin, who played all of Paganini’s whims before he was fifteen , gave his first orchestra concert at the age of 16, playing Tchaikovsky ‘s Violin Concerto with the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra . He graduated from school in 1989, completed his doctorate in 1996 and received the title of Doctor of Music, in 1998 he became an associate professor.
Joining him on stage at the University of Pretoria was renowned pianist Mehru Ensari and Bass-Baritone Teyfik Rodos. Together the Turkish Trio performed 16 pieces which included Azerbaijan and Turkish folk songs.
