Europe Day 2023 was hosted at H.E Ambassador Sandra Kramer’s residence on 9 May.
Former South African President Mr Motlanthe and his wife where amongst the dignitaries that enjoyed the wonderful evening.
Ms Kramer stated unequivocally that the European Union confirms its unwavering support of Ukraine.
The European Union has a special strategic partnership with South Africa , it has been able to walk alongside South Africa in its efforts to move towards a more inclusive , just and equal society.
There are more than 1000 European companies in South Africa which directly employ 350 000 South Africans . Europe is by far the main trade and investment in South Africa . Through the global gateway initiative Europe supports South Africa’s goal regarding green transition , digital transformation , education, entrepreneurship , transport, science and innovation.
Since 2015, 3000 South African students were given scholarships to study in Europe and some 2000 European students enjoyed the excellence of South African universities . Various cultural projects have also helped strengthen ties through team Europe in a joint approach
There are 22 out of the 27 European member states present in South Africa .
The evening ended with guests enjoying the EU delegations food tasting experience so that everyone could enjoy delicacies from the various countries and learn more about each country’s culture.
