60 years ago, our forefathers came together to shape Africa’s destiny. On Africa Day which was celebrated on the 27 May 2023, we got to celebrate the progress that has been made, acknowledge the challenges that lie ahead, and most importantly how to rise above them. Through unity, representation, and determination, we can redefine our continent’s fate.

The day was enjoyed by numerous heads of Missions from both the African continent and others. Mr Zane Dangor , the Director – General at DIRCO addressed the audience and thanked all the countries for their participation in the 60th African Union Anniversary.
The AU comprises of 55 member states on the continent . It was officially launched in 2002 as a successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU, 1963-1999).

The AU is guided by its vision of “An Integrated, Prosperous and Peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the global arena.”

A day of fun, laughter, performances and delicious food showcasing each countries people and culture.
