A farewell reception was hosted for Morocco’s Ambassador to South Africa, H.E. Mr. Youssef Amrani, at the Ambassador’s residence on December 8, 2023.
The event drew a significant gathering, including government officials, the honorary consulate of Morocco from Cape Town, members of the diplomatic corps, business representatives, and friends of the Embassy, all bidding farewell to Ambassador Amrani at the conclusion of his mission in South Africa.
During his farewell speech, Ambassador Amrani reflected on his tenure, expressing gratitude for the support and cooperation received. He highlighted the enduring historical ties between the two countries, dating back to Morocco’s support for African liberation movements. He emphasized the ongoing open political dialogue between Morocco and South Africa, acknowledging both nations as pivotal African countries with an ambitious and optimistic vision for the continent’s future. He stressed the importance of addressing the aspirations of African peoples, particularly in socio-economic development, and noted Morocco’s efforts in narrative projection and media accessibility.
H.E. Mr. Kabalan Frangieh, Ambassador of Lebanon to South Africa and Deputy Dean of the Arab group, presented a token of appreciation—a plate—on behalf of the group to Ambassador Amrani, thanking him for his contributions, cooperation, and coordination during his time in South Africa.
