H.E. Mr Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, participated in the Solidarity Meeting held at Freedom Park in Pretoria on 11 March 2025.
A wreath-laying ceremony took place to pay tribute to and remember the lives of more than 2,000 Cubans whose names are inscribed on the memorial wall for their contribution to the fight against apartheid.
Mr Parrilla referenced former President Nelson Mandela’s visit to Cuba in 1991, stating:
“The Cuban people hold a special place in the hearts of the people of Africa.”
SACP Secretary General Solly Afrika Mapaila addressed guests and expressed his gratitude to the more than 200 people who participated in the event.
