The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of South Africa, Ahmed Sharif, graciously hosted a warm and inclusive Iftar at his official residence, widely known as Egypt House, in Pretoria. The annual gathering brought together members of the Egyptian community residing across South Africa, reflecting the spirit of Ramadan through fellowship, reflection and shared tradition.
Egypt House opened its doors to welcome community members, religious envoys and faith leaders, creating an atmosphere of unity and belonging. The evening underscored the embassy’s commitment to nurturing close ties with Egyptian citizens abroad and fostering direct, open communication with the community.
A highlight of the Iftar was the cuisine, lovingly prepared by the embassy’s Egyptian chef. Guests enjoyed an array of authentic, traditional Egyptian dishes that offered a true taste of home and enriched the communal experience of breaking the fast together.
In his address, Ambassador Ahmed Sharif reaffirmed the embassy’s dedication to strengthening engagement with Egyptian citizens in South Africa and the broader region of consular responsibility. He emphasised the importance of accessible information and transparent services, noting that the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in South Africa regularly shares consular guidelines, including procedures and required documentation for various services, via its official Facebook page for Egyptian nationals across the three countries of accreditation.
The annual Iftar once again served as a meaningful platform for connection, cultural continuity and mutual support, reinforcing the enduring bonds between the embassy and the Egyptian community during the holy month of Ramadan.
