A new lakeside event space adds another dimension to countryside luxury in Gauteng
Irene Country Hotel has entered a new chapter with the launch of its impressive Tulip Venue, a new lakeside event space that adds a fresh dimension to the five-star countryside retreat in Irene, Gauteng.
The latest addition forms part of an extensive transformation of the hotel, which has also seen its accommodation refreshed and the introduction of the new Lake House Restaurant and Lounge.
At the heart of the transformation is Tulip Venue, the largest event space at Irene Country Hotel to date. With a capacity of up to 450 guests, the venue has been designed to accommodate a wide range of occasions, including weddings, conferences, corporate functions, product launches and special celebrations.
What immediately sets Tulip Venue apart is its setting. Positioned alongside the lake, the venue opens onto a spacious patio with views across the water, allowing guests to enjoy the surrounding countryside as part of the event experience.
The design combines a contemporary, sophisticated aesthetic with the relaxed character for which Irene Country Hotel is known. The result is a versatile space that can be adapted from a large corporate conference during the day to an elegant evening celebration.
The new venue also expands the hotel’s already extensive conferencing and events offering, providing an option for larger gatherings while complementing its existing collection of function and wedding spaces.
A countryside setting
Since opening in 1998, Irene Country Hotel has developed from a small boutique property surrounded by the meadows of Irene into a 170-room countryside destination.
Despite its growth, the hotel has retained its connection to its farm setting, offering guests a sense of tranquillity while remaining conveniently close to Pretoria and Johannesburg.
The latest refurbishment continues this philosophy. The hotel’s 170 rooms have been refreshed with interiors inspired by the character of a traditional countryside manor. Warm, earthy fabrics and contemporary finishes create spaces that are comfortable and sophisticated while remaining connected to the property’s heritage.
Dining beside the lake
Another highlight of the transformation is Lake House Restaurant, which brings a new dining experience to the hotel.
Set overlooking the water, the restaurant combines elegant interiors with a relaxed countryside atmosphere. Guests can start the day with a generous breakfast buffet, while an extensive wine list complements the dining experience.
Next door, the Lake House Lounge provides a more relaxed setting for guests to enjoy a drink while taking in the lakeside surroundings.
Together, the restaurant, lounge and Tulip Venue create a stronger connection between the hotel’s hospitality offering and its natural environment.
More than a venue
The developments reinforce Irene Country Hotel’s position as more than simply a place to stay. Guests can combine accommodation with dining, spa experiences, farm activities, weddings, conferences and other events, with neighbouring Irene Farm and Camdeboo Day Spa adding to the overall destination experience.
For event organisers, the combination of a 450-seat lakeside venue, accommodation, dining and countryside surroundings offers the opportunity to host an event and accommodate guests within the same destination.
Almost three decades after its establishment, Irene Country Hotel continues to evolve while retaining the countryside character that has become part of its identity.
The launch of Tulip Venue is the latest expression of that evolution, bringing together modern event facilities, lakeside views and the tranquillity of the Irene countryside, just minutes from the city.
