H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu,Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye payed a visit to South Africa which formed part of his 5 nation African tour.
Turkiye has 44 Embassies on the African continent showcasing Türkiye’s growing investment and interest. President Erdogan ranks first in terms of the number of visits to Africa among global leaders. Turkiye opened an Embassy in Pretoria after the end of Apartheid in 1994 and then a Consulate General in Cape Town in 2020.
Minister Çavuşoğlu held a joint press conference with South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor in Pretoria after the official opening of the Turkish Consulate.
The meetings and events which included the launch of the Maarif Centre of Turkish Studies at the University of Pretoria was testimony to the multifaceted progress in bilateral relations between Turkiye and South Africa.
