The Embassy of Sweden in Pretoria hosted an afternoon event in honour of Women’s Day on the 10 August 2023.
Celebrating the theme of unleashing inspirational women, the charity fund raising event focused on the Basadi Ba Moshito foundation.
H.E. Mr Hakan Juholt and Mrs Asa Juholt welcomed guests warmly to their residence for this memorable occasion.
In her welcome Mrs Juholt remarked that the Residence is used for many occasions which include helping people connect, come together and share contacts.
The word ” Ubuntu ” is not only a warm word, it is a quality that includes the essential human virtues; compassion and humanity, one of the first South African words that Mrs Juholt learnt when coming to South Africa .
Guests were able to listen to inspirational stories throughout the afternoon from the Basadi Ba Moshito foundation.
The foundation is a faith based non-profit organization committed to providing support services to vulnerable women from abusive and underprivileged backgrounds.
CEO and founder Antoinette Maluleke shared her story about the founding of the organization in April 2021 Antoinette herself was a victim of domestic violence for many years.
Antoinette decided to dedicate her time and resources to the BBM foundation in order to help other women over come their difficult and challenging circumstances.
The organization is an information agency and social support centre for women. The young girls and women come from all walks of life, and participate in the various programs set up by the NGO which include skills development.
H.E.Mr Juholt thanked everyone for attending and to the ladies who shared their stories and empowered everyone in the audience.
