The High Commission of New Zealand in Pretoria hosted a watch party for the Rugby World Cup final played in Paris on October 28, 2023. Various members of the Diplomatic Community and friends were warmly welcomed by H.E. Emma Dunlop-Bennett into her residence.

The Springboks put up a gallant fight to retain South Africa’s Webb Ellis Cup. A historic, record fourth Rugby World Cup showed South Africa’s determination, holding on in the final moments, had everyone sitting on the edge of their chairs. With a third successive one-point win, the two greatest rugby nations in the world delivered suspense and drama until the whistle blew, crowning South Africa the champion. Everyone in the room jumped up in sheer jubilation, cheering and congratulating. Now the most successful nation in men’s World Cup history, the Springboks defended magnificently and returned home as heroes.

Congratulations, Springboks!
