On 26 March 2026, the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in Pretoria hosted a vibrant celebration of culture and creativity as part of the annual Festival de la Francophonie. Held in partnership with Alliance Française Pretoria, the event took place at the Chancellery in Arcadia and welcomed members of the diplomatic corps, cultural leaders and distinguished guests.
The 2026 edition of Côte d’Ivoire Day placed a special emphasis on the country’s flourishing film industry. Attendees were treated to engaging discussions led by Ivorian cinema professionals, highlighting the innovation and storytelling power driving the nation’s creative sector. Among the notable guests were Franck Vlehi and Patricia Kalou, who travelled from Côte d’Ivoire to share their expertise and experiences.
Beyond cinema, the event offered an immersive cultural experience. Guests indulged in authentic Ivorian cuisine, showcasing the country’s rich culinary traditions, and admired the sophistication of Ivorian fashion. A standout feature of the evening was a fashion showcase by A’Ka Mau House of Creation, whose designs captured the elegance and vibrancy synonymous with Côte d’Ivoire’s creative identity.
More than a cultural showcase, the celebration underscored a broader mission: to promote cultural diversity, strengthen ties within the Francophone community and deepen diplomatic and cultural relations among member states. Events such as Côte d’Ivoire Day continue to serve as important platforms for dialogue, exchange and mutual appreciation.
Looking ahead, the Embassy has outlined a dynamic calendar of engagements for 2026, including upcoming Independence Day celebrations. These initiatives aim to further solidify bilateral cultural ties and reinforce the spirit of collaboration and friendship that defines the Francophonie.
