A heartfelt morning of warmth, friendship and fond farewells unfolded at the April edition of the IDSA Coffee Morning, graciously hosted at Flora Mystique. Set against an atmosphere of elegance and camaraderie, the gathering brought together members of the diplomatic community for a meaningful moment of connection and reflection.
The occasion was marked by a touching farewell to Mrs Menaka Shrestha, spouse of H.E. Prof. K. M. Shrestha, Ambassador of Nepal to South Africa. Over time, Mrs Shrestha has become a cherished presence within the community, known for her kindness, humility and genuine warmth.
In a unique and heartfelt tribute, each attendee was invited to describe Mrs Shrestha in just one word. The responses, though varied, carried a common thread, each reflecting admiration for her grace, positivity and the quiet impact she has made on those around her. The simplicity of the gesture underscored the depth of appreciation felt by all.
In her farewell remarks, Mrs Shrestha left guests with a message that resonated deeply: “If you have good eyes, you only see good things.” Her words captured not only her outlook on life but also the spirit she consistently brought into every room, one of optimism, compassion and understanding.
As the morning drew to a close, there was a shared sense of gratitude for the moments spent together, coupled with the bittersweet acknowledgement of her departure. While she will be greatly missed, her legacy of warmth and positivity will undoubtedly endure within the diplomatic circle she leaves behind.
Guests departed with full hearts, carrying forward the inspiration of a remarkable woman whose presence made a lasting difference.
