To my fellow Paraguayans and friends of Paraguay in South Africa and other countries in the region:
Many thanks to Embassy Direct’s Editor in Chief for giving the Embassy of the Republic of
Paraguay in South Africa the opportunity to publish a special greeting to commemorate the Republic of Paraguay’s Independence Day.
Dear fellow Paraguayans and friends:
On the night of May 14, 1811, the bells of the Cathedral of Asunción rang, as a signal to our Patriots to begin a liberating revolution, which in the morning of May 15, 1811, gave us our REPUBLIC OF PARAGUAY, free and sovereign, unique and indivisible.
Today, 209 years after that historic feat, which created a new horizon in our lives, a historical legacy to which we proudly belong to as Paraguayans, we would like to take this opportunity to warmly greet all our dear fellow Paraguayans and friends who reside in South Africa and in other countries of this continent. Kindly note that the Government of Paraguay, the Embassy in Pretoria and the Honorary Consulate in Cape Town, are at the service of the entire Paraguayan resident community and recognize and appreciate the contribution made by each and every one of you, from your respective places of residence, with patriotism and without forgetting our beloved homeland: “Paraguay: You are the enchanting land, Full of light and pleasure, Where the dawn shines gently, Where every being smiles”.
On this date, despite not being able to meet and share beautiful times in the gardens of our Embassy, as we usually do every year, we would like to wish everyone a HAPPY DAY OF INDEPENDENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF PARAGUAY, and also warmly congratulate all the dear and respected Paraguayan resident mothers, for “Mother’s Day” in Paraguay. Congratulations.
Long live the Republic of Paraguay!
Minister Roberto Recalde
Chargé d’affaires
