How would you describe your diplomatic tour of South Africa as Head of Delegation, Southern Africa, for the International Red Cross?

It has been fascinating. I have been in South Africa for two and a half years, and during this time, South Africa has been involved with the Security Council, it has chaired the African Union, and most recently, it chaired SADC’s Organ Troika. Such participation has created many opportunities for us to engage the South African government and to further the upholding of human dignity–not only in this country but on the African continent and globally
