In a celebration marked by warmth, friendship and genuine affection, Her Excellency Karima Bardaoui, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to South Africa, hosted an intimate, family-friendly farewell brunch in honour of Her Excellency Stella Ndau, Ambassador of the Republic of Malawi.

Held in Pretoria, the gathering brought together members of the diplomatic community and friends for a relaxed occasion to celebrate Ambassador Ndau and her contribution to the close ties shared between Malawi, Tunisia and the wider diplomatic community in South Africa.

Unlike the formality often associated with diplomatic functions, the brunch provided a more personal setting in which colleagues and friends could come together to reflect on shared experiences, friendships and the many memories created during Ambassador Ndau’s tenure.

Ambassador Bardaoui’s decision to host the farewell in an intimate, family-friendly setting underscored the close relationships that develop within Pretoria’s diplomatic community. Beyond official engagements and diplomatic responsibilities, ambassadors and their families often form strong personal bonds, creating a sense of community far from their respective home countries.

Ambassador Stella Ndau has been a respected and warmly regarded member of the diplomatic corps, contributing to the strengthening of Malawi’s relations with South Africa while building friendships across the diplomatic community.

The farewell brunch offered an opportunity to acknowledge not only her diplomatic service, but also the personal qualities that have made her a valued colleague and friend.

For those gathered, the occasion was both a farewell and a celebration of the journey ahead. While diplomatic postings inevitably bring change, the relationships forged during these assignments often continue long after ambassadors move on to their next chapter.

The relaxed atmosphere, shared conversations and presence of family reflected the spirit of camaraderie that characterises Pretoria’s diplomatic community.

As Ambassador Ndau prepares to embark on her next chapter, the gathering served as a heartfelt reminder that diplomacy extends beyond official meetings and bilateral relations. At its heart are people, friendships and connections that help build bridges between nations.

Ambassador Bardaoui’s gracious hosting provided the perfect setting for saying goodbye, not with formality, but with warmth, friendship and appreciation.

The message was simple and heartfelt: farewells may mark the end of a posting, but they do not mark the end of friendships.
