The Embassy of Korea celebrated National Day and Armed Forces Day on 6 September 2025, with His Excellency Dong Han Yang, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, hosting a reception at the Maslow Time Square Hotel in Pretoria.
Following the reception, a Korean Cultural Festival in commemoration of the G20 Summit was held at the SunBet Arena. The K-Culture Festival delighted guests with K-Pop and Amapiano performances, a Hanbok fashion show, Taekwondo displays by the K-Tigers, and a moving performance by the Ndlovu Youth Choir.
The highlight of the evening was a special performance by Ailee, the first solo K-Pop artist ever to perform in South Africa. The audience erupted with excitement as she sang her hit “I Will Go to You Like the First Snow” from the soundtrack of the popular Korean drama Goblin.
